Hi there! My name is Tara and I am a budding special effects artist. In fact, I will be taking an 8 month SFX course starting September 2010 at Complections International in Toronto, Canada.

The following is a description of my future Huntress costume. All pieces and parts will be made by me. The first costume will be slush latex cast, though I hope in the future to make an all-out expense foam latex version. Anyway, here we go:

Head Type [definite] - Mostly P1-inspired with a few elements of P2 here and there; I don't want to stray too far from the basic design just for the sake of making the monster feminine aka less "ugly" (I hate it when that is done - just look at World of Warcraft). The head will be cast in slush latex, hopefully with a jaws-open-and-mandibles-flare rig (like Grusderk's wonderful idea). I will design the rig myself using the basic idea of bottom-jaw-mounted-wire-pulls-open-top-mandibles and top-jaw-mounted-wire-pulls-open-bottom-mandibles and go forward from there with my own design ideas. The hard parts that brace and anchor the rig on the face will be custom-made resin-cast pieces to fit my own face and mask. From there, I will move on with hinges, wires, etc. to accomplish the desired effect. Should be fun, or a nightmare, or both.

Dreads [definite] - Foam cast, P2 Hippie length with a porcupine quill coloration; I am so sick of plain black dreads (no offense guys) and I don't want to use them on my costume. Also, my dreads will be a little thinner than the standard size for a more feminine look. I am not sure what I am going to do about dread ornamentation yet.

Coloration & Markings [may change] - colors of Boar (red/brown/black/cream) but markings somewhat similar to Hippie (which were sea turtle inspired, but mine will look a lot more like the Mohawk Gremlin from Gremlins 2). Again, I don't want to stray too far from the movie formulas.

Bodysuit [definite] - will be slush latex and sculpted in one piece (with a secret opening for using bathroom...). The suit will be sculpted "naked" so I can change out all armor, clothing, and ornamentation as I wish. Those extras will be secured with strong magnets. Also, yes, she will have breasts even though that is illogical (they are not mammals, and even so, Humans are the only species of mammal with breasts that are large outside of breastfeeding). They will be small, though - like my own and those of every other athletic woman on the planet.

Armor [may change] - my current inspiration is a turtle shell theme (turtle shell bio, pauldrons, bra cups, etc.) to play off of the turtle markings on the skin. All armor will be resin cast.

Hands [definite] - will be slush latex with resin claws and sculpted naked so I can change out the gloves/hand armor. Gloves will be made from tight leather or faux leather.

Feet [definite] - will be slush latex with resin claws and will either be sculpted completely naked or with the sole of the sandals on. I also intend to make a set of feet specially posed for a "high heel" version... cuz that's just awesome.

Weapons [definite] - All weapons will be resin-cast. Not sure of the colors yet. I will have wristblades and a spear at least. A shoulder cannon and backpack seems as though they might be aggravating to wear so I will either go without or make small, non-bulky versions...

Special Effects, Creature Effects, Mold Making, Art

I will be going to a Toronto school in September 2010 to learn special effects make-up from professional teachers.
