Is there anything I can use as a mold release agent that I can get locally... or even a household item. The mold is latex, and I am casting with fiberglass resin. There is some residue left over in the mold that is still very sticky...and i am worried it will affect my next armor casting.

Please help!!!

An ultra-thin coating of petroleum jelly should work just fine as a mold release. Plus, it will insulate the tacky spots from the resin.

Try using some alcohol on a dry rag to scrub away the tacky spots. Not sure why its tacky. But i would try and get that out of the mold.

Then do what Pirk said. be very conservative with the jelly tho. You only need a residue on the surface. So dont blob it in and fill in ur mold detail with jelly.

petroleum jelly has so many uses, especially naughty ones!!!

Actually, go with castor oil over vaseline / petroleum jelly. Petroleum products actually break down latex over time.
