Curious About A Few Things....

ive had a few questions and opinons on my mind lately so i tought id put them out there to see if they could be answered or if other people think the same so here goes.....

(1) is scar the least popular main unmasked predator in the films and why?

in the time ive been on here watching peoples projects and mask sculpts p1,p2,wolf,bezerker and elder seem to be the favorites and ive seen very little of scar but this could just be me i personally like scars appearance he seems to be alot beefier than normal predators in his body and facial features my only criticism would be that his bio could of been less p1 like and more original if they wanted to tip there hat to p1 they could have put the bio on one of the preds that died earlier in the film and had an original bio for the main caracter

(2) would anyone like to see future predators with more of a p2 flair?

since p2 all of the predators excluding the bezerker looked like they have come from the p1 side of the family tree even in there bio design i could be wrong but i think the only heritage from p2 in the later films are the weapons eg spear, net launcher, shrunken

(3) how did the pred-alien get the ability to reproduce by itself?

as far as i know the alien life cycle is queen lays egg, facehugger hatches from egg then then implants chestburster in a host chestburster bursts through chest and grows into adult alien but the pred-alien was able to implant chestbursters into a host on its own did this have something to do with its predator dna? or is it explained at all or am i just completely missing something?

(4) what would you change about the predators film?

the predators film is my least favorite of all the films the only thing i really liked about it was we got to see more predator caracters i would of liked to see more of the other predators and not just mostly the bezerker throughout the film i would of also liked to see more of noland iswell i think it was ridiculous the fact he had survived for so many years and just died so quickly also the fight between Hanzo and falconer and fight between bezerker and classic predator could have been soooooo much better the build up to both was really good but then it was just a complete let down

Well I can answer question 3 for you
I am quite an Alien fan, but this is what I have read: as we already know once a
Xeno egg has been impregnate into its host, a little bit of DNA from the host
is absorbed if you like into the developing xenomorph (chestbracker ). The great thing about
the Zeno's life cycle is that as a race they can infect every living life form in existence,
them doing so means new breeds of xenomorphs are created. Basically every
cross breed is different some more so then others eg: pred-alien.
Personally though I think who ever worked in the alien section in AVPR stuffed up
breeding concept a bit, just my opinion. All in all was not a bad movie.

I actually thought Predators was pretty good. It was much better than either of the AVP movies at least, in my opinion.

As for question 2 : I reckon alot of Pred's are based around the P1 as that was the original / the one that will stand out in peoples minds when they think of Predator. Predator 2 as a movie isnt as memorable to people.

i know what your saying as in the breed of the xenomorph depends on the host i think i can even remember seeing a xenomorph rhino somewere but what i was getting at is did the pred-alien get the ability to impregnate the host with a chestburster on its own without the need for a queen, egg or face hugger from its predator dna?

I can only speak for myself, but...

[1] I think a lot of it has to do with the mask itself. The way the mandibles opened and in some scenes, the mask looks to be melting. That, and they didn't use contacts in the actors eyes so instead of having a unique eye coloration like P1 and P2, Scar had brown eyes. It just made it look too human instead of alien.

[2] Wolf had more of a P2 flair with how the head was shaped, but I do understand where you're coming from. Predlethe summed it up very well too. When people think of Predator, it's usually the original that comes to mind.

[4] I liked the movie, to an extent. I really like the armor designs of all three and the skin paint schemes of the Falconer and Tracker. I like the Berzerker paint scheme when it's dirty. The lack of netting took some time, but the additions of the dogs and falcon were a nice touch. The head, well...I like it and I don't. The movie itself, I think it made the Predator itself [regardless if it's the berzerkers or the classic, it made them look like crap compared to the original and P2, even wolf. P1 easily took down almost two full special ops teams before Dutch barely beat him. P2 took out multiple cops, drug gang members, etc... before he was beaten on his ship at the last minute. Wolf took out cops, people, aliens, etc... before the nuke got him. Tracker stares at his victim for a minute or two like he's waiting for the bomb to go off. Falconer lost quite easily. Berzerker got his but handed to him. What I don't get is that all three caught these humans quite easily, caught a P1...but get tossed around on their one? The more I view the movie, the more it seems like an identical copy of the original, but with an AVP flair to it. To an extent, they didn't seem like "Predators", but more like typical movie monsters. There's a difference in paying homage and copying the movie, tweeking it a little, and calling it a "stand alone" or "true sequel".

i did notice the brown eyes of the scar before but didint notice the wierd mandable and facial movements until you pointed them out i went back and watched a few scenes on you tube and your right it does look like it melting i think a reason for that would be that i think they didint ask stan winston to work on avp i could be wrong im bout 98% sure but what a slap in the face that must of been as for predators i think you sumed it up perfectly

The same goes for any movie or story line they drag out. If it is not the original directors, producers, fx people and actors. Most of the time who ever takes over tries to put their artistic flare into it. The predator movies, the alien series(which i am a big fan of). I feel the third and forth ones really let down the alien designs. Even all the superhero movies coming out. First batmans sucked, superman has been remade several times and is being remade again. Although I did like predators I felt P2 and AVP was a let down. I think P2 would have been better if somebody else was cast in Danny Glover's place. AVP the story line could have been alot better.

Couldnt have said it any better myself.

I think its just in the nature of a pred-alien, as much as we see
one in AVPR there is also a pred alien in the latest
AVP 2010 game, same characteristics, just impregnates and kills everything.

I see what your saying really abnormal life cycle compared to
the one where used to.

What I don't fully understand in AVPR is this scene:

shouldn't there be predaliens ripping out of her,
or something along the line of a predalian?

i agree that doesn't make any sense either,if your going to rewrite the rules on the alien life cycle at least stick to them as well as give us some sort of explaination as to why they have changed, thats why i asked the question about the pred-alien i was wondering if us the viewers were supposed to assume it got its new ability from its predator dna therefore meaning predators reproduce in some way on there own, another thing i cant make sense of is if the pred-alien came to earth on its own in avpr where did the face huggers come from? theres no queen in the film does the pred-alien lay eggs iswell?

I'm working on an Aliens fan film right now (titled "Aliens: Infestation"), and I have taken the liberty of adding a few things to the Xeno life cycle, to (1) make it better suited as a bio-weapon, and (2) feature a few weird things in terrestrial biology. So my modified Xeno life cycle goes like this:

The queen lays the eggs. The eggs hatch into facehuggers, which are brought hosts by the drones, implant an embryo in the hosts, and the embryos incorporate part of the host's DNA into themselves (to help them adapt better to new environments). The embryos gestate, and emerge as new drones.

The queen, like some terrestrial creatures, is "parthenogenic"--that means she can produce fertile eggs without mating. The xeno species is entirely female, no males exist. They're not needed.

Further, if the queen dies, any of the drones are capable of transforming themselves into a new queen, and begin laying eggs to keep the colony going. (Here on earth, many damsel fishes live in small groups of one male and several females, and if the male dies, the largest female transforms herself into a male.)

As one of my characters in the film puts it, they're the perfect bioweapon--they don't sleep, they don't eat, all they do is make little ones and look for new hosts.

;)

I tried to arrange things so they still fit within the canon frame. In the original movie, for instance, the xeno was cocooning people even though there was no queen to produce eggs or facehuggers---that's because she would herself have transformed into a queen if she'd lived long enough.

Yes, so they could include DNA from who knows what. ;)
in saying "so they could include dna from who knows what" are you saying that could be an explanation from the pred-aliens different life cycle? if so it couldint be because the pred-alien was already past the facehugger stage and fully grown at the start of avpr before the ship crashed

It's possible that the new DNA from, well, wherever it came from, gave the Predalien a different way of reproducing, just like incorporating Ripley's DNA enabled the queen to give live birth without laying eggs.

the pred-alien only has alien and predator dna and no alien before it had the ability to impregnate a host on its own the reason we know this is because the pred-aliens life cycle was a normal alien life cycle which wich started from the queen in avp and the queen and all the aliens in avp couldint reproduce on there own if they could there would be no need for the eggs, facehuggers, chestbursters and the special chamber in the temple for the hosts to be impregnated thats why i asked the original question did it get the ability to reproduce on its own from its predator dna which would mean predators reproduce in some way on there own

Yep, you are right. Chalk it up as a continuity error. They probably did it just to make the story better.

EDIT:: Well, on the other hand, the Preds don't lay eggs either, and give live birth (at least presumably). So I guess it's still possible that the Predalien's method of reproduction is some weird combination of the two--injecting live embryos directly into the host. And then when the gestated embryos emerge, they'd have human DNA as well as Xeno and Pred, so they could be entirely different still.

i think its one of many errors that dont make any sense felconer made another good point about the pred-aliens offspring in a post above,i like your version of the alien life cycle if it had been used in the avp films we wouldint be having this conversation it would really serve as an explaination for an alien to reproduce in any situation
