Predator Suit - Home Build by PREDMANIAC

Hello All, just thought I would share my 2 months work. Total home build Predator costume, with a couple of premade items.

This has been a labour of Love. I built it as a hobby and it took me a couple of

months to make working weekends and evenings.

The main items are a fabric muscle man costume for the top half, which I
coated with about 5 layers of liquid latex. The legs are made by sticking
compressed foam sheets to a pair of leggings with carpet glue and then carving the
foam to make muscles. You then pull over the top another pair of leggings
which you coat with latex to bond together.

I coloured the liquid latex with acrylic paints to give a base skin
colour. I then added acrylic paint to watered down latex and airbrushed the
skin colours. The secret is to then seal the costume with a flexible
coating. I used artists acrylic Marvin Medium (Berol). This
is painted straight onto the suit and looks like white glue, however it
drys completely clear with a wet look.

The body armour is totally home made. The original was made from a
motorcross body armour cut up and bolted together, however I have since come
up with a much better armour made from old rubber car floor matts. Much more
flexible and lighter. Eventually I think I'll buy latex armour pieces

professionaly made on ebay.

The head is the liscensed mask which I adapted by adding dreadlocks and
lining with foam to make it fit better.
The hands and gauntlets are also the liscensed items from ebay that I
repainted myself to be more realistic. I tend to use warhammer paints for

detailing as these have the best colour range for the job.

I made my shoulder canon by glueing foam around a piece of plastic pipe and

carving into the foam then painting. I fitted this to a cctv camera motor from

ebay which has a remote control unit which I hide inside my hand.

The spear is made from a wooden curtain rail and some plastic plumbing pipe
and compressed foam.

The rest was made from items i scavenged from around the house.

Hope this helps someone, and good luck in any projects.

AND, The PERKS of Costuming......

Fantastic job on the suit!!

Very creative construction technique!! Keep up the good work and feel fre to post more pictures anytime!!

Super re-finishing of the Predator Head!! It was so wimpy with the few 3-D dreds that it had. You turned it into a great mask!! Kudos!!!

Hello there. The secret is to make holes in the mask that are 70% of the diameter of your dreads. I also cut a groove in the top off my dreads to help lock in place. Finally I ran some hot glue round the dread inside the mask to just to be sure.
Good Luck

Maniac,

Would it be possible to post some closeup shots of the mask and especially the attachment of the dreads ?
I'm considering to use it as an undermask for a different bio in the far future and am just wondering if that might work

Thanks.

No prob Maniac there's no haste. I'm just curious how you did it. I'm currently working on my custom Bio (which I hope to finish this month) and I think of using the mask as an undermask-3/4 mask for that one.

Thanks again.

Hey predmaniac, beautiful suit!!
I have a question on the latex mask you're wearing. Would you maybe be as kind as to give me some exact measurements on the thing? Point is, after building my own bio, I need some sort of undermask. I'd prefer something with the slightest resemblance of a Pred head to some hockey helmet hidden under dreads. Plus I'd probably make it a 3/4 mask.

Problem is, I can't tell if the custom bio would fit over the mask. I'd be very grateful if you could measure the following

* chin to upper eyebrow
* width of mouth from outmost part of mandible to mandible
* width of helmet from left lower outer jawline to the right (in diameter, without! going around the "nose")

tried to illustrate it on the pics:

you'd do me a huge favor, thanks!
