There was a system made portable for firefighters, it was incorperated into the helmet if I remember correctly.

It also added false collors, just like the images in Predator

What good would thermal imaging be in a raging inferno?

Not a pisstake, before anyone jumps in. Serious question. During the fire strikes here in the UK, my Regiment covered in the north of England and im not sure how well they'd work in the helmets. even the embers afterwards would make it difficult to locate a person, alive or otherwise.

That said im sure that if any group figures out how to fit them into bio helms, it will come from the Lair rather than a big money studio.

I always wonder whether you can see with those cameras when someone farts. Typically, it should produce a heat bloom on his back.

we use the cameras in the fire dept for search and rescue, and locating fires. Often in a structure fire there is too much smoke, preventing you from finding the seat of the fire, people or even the hand in front of your face. IR cameras cut thru the smoke, enabling you to see victims and fires. We also use it to find fires in walls, and sometimes assist local sheriff with locating suspects at night hiding in the bushes. We were able to get it for free thru a grant from the Government for fire departments.

Neither, that one I'm keeping secret.
I have a pretty good idea as to what filter you used Colin, the only problem you have is that it leaves the face blue, which IR would see as red or infact yellow depending on how hot they were. I went a differnt route for this though, meant I could generate a pretty good simulation of an IR cam.

The one that Pete used for the S.E.E.D. fanfilm was one that was borrowed from a Fire Dept. Really cool stuff to see in real life.

I was always wondering...do you really not see cold objects, even if they're moving??

My point being, that in P1, the Pred once targeted a moving bush that Arnold ran into, so it must at least be able to recognize motion...if what was shown in the movie is correct.

The only way you'd become potentially invisible to a thermal camera is if your temp matched that of the environment around you. I think in the original film they suggested that Arnie being covered in a thickish layer of mud from the river bank would cause him to be more or less the same temp as the surroundings, but if you watch the sequence carefully you can still see variances in the blue and make out his rough shape, but of course we know what he looks like so it's easy to do.
